The Loft, Pittsburgh, PA

Katie and I were spent; too much going on in our lives- we needed a few drinks to help us unwind. It was a typical Thursday night in Regent Square; pedestrians were out picking up their dry-cleaning (trying not to get hit by cars as they crossed Braddock Avenue), having dinner, and running errands. We weren’t interested in doing anything productive- we needed cold beer and talk-therapy. Neither of us had been to The Loft, so we decided to give it a try.

Murphy’s Tap Room and St. Patrick’s Day

There’s one bar in particular that enjoys the steadiest, and most loyal patronage from the time it opens its doors on St. Patrick’s Day- Murphy’s Tap Room. A truly authentic Irish bar, Murprhy’s serves pints of Guinness (poured the right way), and a wide selection of Irish whiskey.

Salt of the Earth, Pittsburgh, PA

It wasn’t easy getting a reservation at Salt of the Earth, so when I finally secured a spot for last Thursday evening, I was excited. We arrived at 8pm sharp, and were greeted by a very friendly hostess. As she was checking on our table, I looked around, and was extremely impressed with the layout of the restaurant.

Hofbräuhaus, Pittsburgh, PA

I was really looking forward to visiting the Hofbräuhaus when it opened in the South Side Works in the spring of 2009. I just had a feeling it would be a place I would thoroughly enjoy… and I was right.

Brgr, Pittsburgh

The new restaurant, Brgr, can be described as a contemporary burger joint, with a heavy dose of sophistication. Brgr, located at 134 South Highland Avenue, enjoys a prime location in the east section of town that has recently experienced a rejuvenation of sorts. New businesses have been popping up in this section of the city, attracting a diverse and loyal clientele.

Bahama Breeze, Pittsburgh, PA

On Wednesday, Cinco de Mayo, I joined a couple of buds for dinner at Bahama Breeze in Robinson. Brianna, Jay, and I met up with Eric, a great friend from dear old Bethany College. It had been months since we had seen him, and we were all excited to catch up.
